9#48e. மனஸா தேவி (7)

பிரதிக்ஞை செய்திருந்தார் முனிவர் மனைவியிடம்
“பிரிந்து செல்வேன் பிரியம் இல்லாததைச் செய்தால்!”

பிரதிக்ஞையை நிறைவேற்ற முனிவர் உடனே
பிரிந்து செல்லலானார் மனஸா தேவியை!

வருந்தினாள் மனஸா தேவி இந்தப் பிரிவினால்;
வணங்கினாள் மனதில் குரு சிவ சங்கரனாரை!

வணங்கினாள் பிரம்ம தேவனை, விஷ்ணு பிரானை;
வணங்கினாள் தனக்குப் பிறவி தந்த கச்யப முனியை.

தோன்றினர் அவர்கள் மனஸா தேவியின் முன்பு;
தேவி கூறினாள் நிகழ்ந்தவை எல்லாம் துயருடன்.

பிரமன் வினவினான் விஷ்ணு மூர்த்தியிடம்,
“பிறக்கவில்லை புத்திரன் இன்னம் இவளுக்கு.

புத்திர உற்பத்தி இன்றிப் பிரிவது எங்கனம்?
புத்திர உற்பத்தியின்றிப் பிரிந்து செல்பவன்

புறக்கணிக்கின்றான் தன் இல்லற தர்மத்தை.
புண்ணியம் வீணாகும் ஜல்லடை நீர் போல!”

9#48e. ManasA Devi (7)

Sage JaratkAru had a laid a condition to ManasA Devi before they got married that he would desert her if she ever did anything to upset him. So to keep his up his words, JaratkAru decided to go away from ManasA Devi.

She became very sad and began to cry aloud with pain and anguish. She prayed to her Guru Lord Sankara, Lord Brahma, Lord Sri Krishna and Sage Kashyapa. They all appeared there immediately.

Bowing down to them, sage JaratkAru inquired why they had come there. BrahmA bowed down at the lotus feet of Sri KrishnA and spoke thus:

“If this Brahmin JaratkAru leaves his wife, he should have first of all given her a son to fulfil his Dharma. Any man can quit his wife only after he has impregnated her and given her a son. But if he leaves his wife without giving her a son, then all his religious merits will be lost just as water carried on a sieve!”
