துக்கம் மேலிட்டது மனஸா தேவிக்கு – “நான்
தூக்கத்துக்கு ஊறு விளைவித்தது உண்மை!

“விட்டுப் பிரிந்து செல்லும் அளவுக்கு – அது
கெட்ட செயலா என்று சிந்தியுங்கள் ஸ்வாமி!

தரிசனம் தர வேண்டும் தங்கள் வந்து எனக்குக்
கரிசனையுடன், நான் விரும்பும் போதெல்லாம்!

துக்கம் உறவினரைப் பிரிவது – அதை விடத்
துக்கம் அருமைப் புத்திரரைப் பிரிந்து இருப்பது.

இணையாகும் பிராணனைப் பிரிந்திடும் துக்கம்
இணைந்த பிராணாதிபதியை பிரிந்திடும் போது!

ஒரு தந்தை கொள்வான் பிரியம் மைந்தன் மீது;
ஒற்றைக் கண்ணனின் பிரியம் இரு கண்களின் மீது.

பிரியம் கொள்வான் தாகம் கொண்டவன் நீரின் மீது;
பிரியம் கொள்வான் பசி எடுத்தவன் உணவின் மீது!

பிரியம் கொள்வான் காமுகன் கலவி சுகத்தில்!
பிரியம் கொள்வான் கள்ளன் பிறர் பொருட்களில்!

பிரியம் கொள்வாள் பதிதை பர புருஷர்கள் மீது;
பிரியம் கொள்வான் கற்காதவன் நூல்களின் மீது!

பிரியம் வைப்பான் வணிகன் வாணிபம் மீது;
பிரியம் வைப்பாள் பதிவிரதை பதியின் மீது.

விழுந்தாள் கணவனின் பாதங்களில் தேவி
அழுதாள் தாளமுடியாத துயரத்தினால் தேவி.

அணைத்துக் கொண்டு ஆறுதல் கூறினார்;
இணையாகக் கண்ணீர் சிந்தினர் இருவரும்.

9#48h. ManasA Devi (10)

Hearing the words of JaratkAru, the Devi ManasA became distressed with great sorrow. Copious tears flowed from her eyes. She spoke to her dear husband thus:

“O SwAmi! I have not committed any grave offence that you have to desert me and go away. Please be kind enough to show yourself to me whenever I wish to see you.

The separation from one’s friend is painful; the separation from one’s sons is even more painful. For a wife her husband is dearer than one hundred sons. So the separation from one’s husband is the hardest to bear.

The heart of a man who has only one son is attached to that son. The heart of a VaishNava is attached to Sri Hari. The mind of one-eyed man is attached to two eyes.

The mind of a thirsty man is attached to water and the mind of a hungry man is attached to food. The mind of a passionate man is attached to lust and the mind of a thief is attached to the properties of others.

The mind of a lewd man is attached to his prostitute and the mind of the learned is attached to the SAstras. The mind of a trader is attached to his trade and the mind of chaste woman is attached to her husband.”

Thus saying, ManasA fell down at the feet of her husband JaratkAru. He took her for a moment on his lap and drenched her body with tears. The Devi ManasA also drenched his lap with tears flowing freely from her eyes.
